Infrastructure: Jaswa Computer Lab
|
Early in the life of AGN, our patrons Tm. Kalpana & Tr. Rajan Jaswa, USA,
gifted a large grant which enabled the establishment of our first computer center: 'Rajan and Kalpana Jaswa
Centre for Advanced Learning and Computer Literacy'. The 'Jaswa Lab',
as fondy referred to, was inaugurated on July 8, 2001, with 22 HP Pavilion computers.
The lab equipment has been upgraded and expanded periodically, and today it hosts
several servers and 40 N-Computing stations. It offers a modern facilty for
students and staff to learn and explore both offline and online.
- The lab has been allocated for the primary use of Junior School Campus (1st to 5th) classes.
However, staff and senior students use the lab during non-class hours for their study,
class preparation and research.
- Every year, the annual 'computer-fest' named 'Kaninisaar Kalvi Vizha' is organized,
where students do projects based on skills learned, and exhibit their projects through
presentations to a large audience.
- The lab maintains a library of computer related books and learning CD's. It also
supports video based text-book reading development program 'AGN English Reader (AER)
and maintains an archive of past AER DVD's .
- The lab's computer literacy programs go beyond AGN students and reach
out to government school students from nearby villages, who come to Jaswa lab to
learn and practice computer skills, internet usage and education apps
during their Summer holidays at free of cost.
